About Council

India Veterinary Council Act 1984(52 of 1984) was enacted in 1984 and was published in the Extraordinary Gazetta of India dated 21st August, 1984 to regulate veterinay practice and to provide for that purpose, for the establishment of Veterinary Councils and the maintenance of Registers of veterinary practitioners and for matters connected therewith.

  • Uttar Pradesh State  has adopted the Indian Veterinary Council Act,1984 in the year 1991.
  • Since its inception, the State Council is receiving 50% grants-in-aid from the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and 50% grant-in-aid from State Government under the plan Scheme-"Professional Efficiency development Programme" for undertaking the activities of the board from year 2017-2018 onword veterinary council is recieving funds from State Goverment only.
  • The Uttar Pradesh Veterinary Council is a Statutory Body and consist of 16 members.
 Composition of State Council
  1. Four members elected from among  themselves by Veterinary practitioners registered in the State Veterinary register.
  2. Three Members nominated by the State Goverment
  3. The heads of veterinary institutions, if any, in the State, ex-officio.
  4. The Director, of Veterinary Services of the State, ex-officio.
  5. Registrar of the State Veterinary Council, ex officio.
  6. One member to be nominated by the State Veterinary Association, if any.

    The Uttar Pradesh Veterinary Council is a Statutory Body.Uttar Pradesh State has adopted the Indian Veterinary Council Act,1984 in the 6 July 1991.
    We all need to work as a team. Every individual related to veterinary services must focus to extend his/her co-operation, advice and vision to broaden, strengthen and advance veterinary services in Uttar Pradesh.
    • The Uttar Pradesh State Veterinary Council is a Statutory Body.
    • The Uttar Pradesh State has adopted the Indian Veterinary Council Act,1984 in the year 1991.
    • The Uttar Pradesh State Veterinary Council is having sixteen members ( 4 members elected , 3 members nominated by state government, 8 members ex-officio (Heads of Veterinary Institutions in Uttar Pradesh State & Registrar UPVC and 1 Member-Nominated by State Veterinary Association).
    • Since its inception, the State Council is receiving 50% grants-in-aid from the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and 50% grant-in-aid from State Government under the plan Scheme-"Professional Efficiency development Programme"
    • The Registrar is the executive officer of the State Council.
